DeleteIn the first quote Titus doesn't really explain fully what the experience was like at J.P. Barnigan's restaurant. It shows how much apathy Titus and the average teenager have for language in the future. They have the feed think for them.

This says to me that teenagers still treated each other poorly. That there was still drama and attraction between teenagers. Also that guys were very into girls and their looks, which happens now also. This overall shows that the way teenagers interact hasn't changed.

When the talk about these lesions that they are getting they don't seem too worried about them at all, it seems to them just another change in their world. The feed seems to change a lot and is constantly updating that maybe the just think that getting these lesions is a normal thing that is supposed to happen, what the feed intended to eventually happen.

Lesions seem similar to tattoos taken to the extreme. This shows how far people will actually go to fit in by getting cuts or burns on there skin.

Despite how alien Feed's world is compared to ours, this quote shows that people still want to have a feeling of normality. Titus felt that being on the moon was odd and "sucky" so naturally he'd want to feel more like he's back at home on earth.

We aren't really told enough about the place to know what it is like, so we don't really know what normal is. It maybe does show that he has gotten used to just eating out at restaurants rather than are home, which is different from now because a lot of families eat dinner together.

ReplyDeleteThis quote shows how times have changed from our present day to theirs. They find it strange that we resource to our technology being in our outside world instead of programmed into us. Also the author makes a point of humans need our lungs to breath and it would be like putting them in a briefcase and opening them when needed. Breathing is something needed so the people with feeds show us just how dependent and how much they really do need them. From this quote we can see how lazy people have become and way to dependent on their feeds. This is significant because we see how much times have changed and technology is playing a bigger part on people's lives. Mary D
I think that the third quote represents how people react when interacting with each other outside of the feed. I think that because of how much the feed has socially and emotionally separated them outside of chatting and facial expressions. Although, Violet is able to express a kind of hatrid, making me think that she is not as connected to the feed as the others are I also think that this shows how much she encompassed them with her beauty and what Violets reaction was to being in the spotlight.

This particular quote reflects upon the importance of fitting in with the others. There is no diversity among this Utopian society. This makes the people living in this time want to all become the same, they want to emulate each other. They have already gone as far as cuts on themselves, what is the next action they will take?
